What is BIOHACKING?

Biohacking simply means taking control of your health and well-being using techniques that help your body and mind function at their best.

What is SHINDO?

Shindo is a natural form of biohacking that helps you feel better, move better, and live with more energy.

Shindo is a holistic system of stretching, massage, breathing and relaxation exercises that originates from Japan. It brings together the ancient wisdom of the East with the latest insights in human anatomy and physiology.

The word Shindo translates to “the path of the heart”—a simple practice that helps you reconnect with yourself and learn to truly listen to your body.

In modern life, various imbalances—like stress, depression, physical tension, and emotional overload—can disrupt the body’s natural energy. Just like many Eastern healing traditions, Shindo is based on the idea that life energy (Qi) flows through the body via energy channels called meridians. When this flow is smooth and unrestricted, we feel well, vibrant, and resilient. But when blockages appear, they can lead to imbalance and illness.

Shindo works to open and maintain the flow in these meridians, supporting the healthy movement of both energy and bodily fluids. As a result, the body can naturally release toxins and waste products that contribute to disease.

Through specific stretches and techniques, Shindo also stimulates autophagy—the body’s natural self-cleaning process—which plays a role in slowing down aging and restoring vitality.

On a deeper level, Shindo promotes balance between body and mind, helping to release both physical and emotional tension. Each organ and area of the body is linked to different emotions, and with regular practice, Shindo can help bring awareness and healing to both.

Whether you're seeking stress relief, better sleep, emotional balance, or simply more presence in your day-to-day life, this method offers immediate results and lasting transformation.

Why it works?

STRETCHING
helps release muscular tension and stimulates key energy meridians (similar to acupuncture channels), promoting internal balance.
BREATHWORK
activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping reduce stress hormones and improve oxygen flow.
MASSAGE
releases muscle tension , helps to relax tight areas, especially along the body’s energy lines (meridians), stimulates blood and lymph flow, which helps nourish tissues and remove waste.
MINDFUL AWARENESS
enhances neuroplasticity, helping you shift patterns of tension, pain, or anxiety—naturally.

Shindo sees the body as an interconnected whole. Self-massage isn’t just about fixing one tight spot—it’s about restoring overall balance, helping energy (Qi) flow freely, and nurturing the connection between body, mind, and spirit.

How was Shindo born?

Shindo was founded by Sensei Kazuko Kuratomi.

Shindo began in the early 1980s when Sensei Kazuko Kuratomi was searching for an effective way to treat her daughter’s asthma and allergies. As conventional medicine offered no real solution, she turned to her childhood experiences and found inspiration in the healing power of touch and warmth. By combining foot massage with energy work, she was able to restore her daughter’s health.)

Over time, Shindo evolved into a versatile and accessible self-care method suitable for people of all ages and physical conditions.

I have obtained my Shindo Instructor Certificate under the guidance of Sensei Kazuko Kuratomi.

What Happens in a Shindo Stretching/Bodywork Class?

During a Shindo stretching session, we work with six fundamental stretches, each combined with deep, rhythmic exhalation through the mouth, to activate and influence all 12 major energy meridians that run through the human body.

The result is a profound release of physical and emotional tension, leading to a state of deep relaxation and inner calm.

These gentle yet effective stretches also support the musculoskeletal system, enhancing posture, joint mobility, and overall body awareness.

As the body becomes more flexible, the mind naturally opens—creating space for clarity, lightness, and balance.

My well-established and supportive Shindo class, developed over the years, is a one-hour guided bodywork session held once a week. The classes take place via Zoom, so you can join from anywhere in the world. And if you can’t make it live, I’ll send you the class recording.

It’s a wonderful way to consistently support your body and mind—biohacking your well-being and gently slowing down the aging process.
